Configuring the Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi for the IoTReady data logger devices can be configured using QR codes generated in a specific format that has been detailed in this document.
To create these QR codes, any QR code generator software application can be used.
For this guide, we will use the-qrcode-generator.com.
When using this website, make sure you are using the "FREE TEXT" tab as seen below in the images.
QR code for SSID:
conf:ssid:wifi_name
Wherewifi_name
is the SSID of the Wi-Fi network.QR code for Password:
conf:password:pwd
Wherepwd
is the password of the Wi-Fi network.
- Scan the QR codes (first the SSID, then the password) generated using the barcode scanner attached to the data logger.
- You should see the
wifi_name
andpwd
on the LCD display. - Restart the device.
- The device will now try to connect to the Wi-Fi credentials provided using the QR codes.
Usage
- The user places a package with a Unique ID in the Data Logger.
- The data logger scans the ID.
- The ID will appear on the Data Logger's screen.
For some use cases, additional details like hub and trip information will also be displayed. - Once the ID appears, place the package on the weighing scale.
- When the weight stabilizes, a yellow indication will appear, meaning the data logger is sending data to the server.
- A green light means the audit is successful.
- A red light means the audit has failed.
- A blue light indicates an API error.
OTA Flow: Updating the Software
Before You Start:
- The laptop you're using must be connected to the same Wi-Fi as the device.
To Initiate the Update:
- Enter the device's IP Address in the address bar, followed by
/OTA
. - Click "Browse" to select the update file from your computer/laptop.
- Press "Update" after selecting the file; your device will start updating.
- You can track the progress on your computer/laptop screen.
- Once the update is successful, restart the device.
- After restarting, the device screen will display the updated version name.
Troubleshooting
If the data logger does not show a yellow indication:
- Check that the weight has stabilized:
- Ensure the surface is even.
- Ensure the table or location of the weighing scale is stable.
- Ensure there are no external disturbances affecting the scale.
